Rapidan VFD Brick Drive
What used to be hillside has now become has now become house side in Culpeper and the surrounding areas. With this growth comes a great deal of added responsibility that is placed upon your local fire and rescue emergency crews. More calls are going out, but less volunteers are coming in. Equipment is constantly needing upgrades and replacements and the issues of safety in the home are always needing to be taught. The Rapidan Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department of Culpeper County is just one of the many companies that are in the same situation. Our department is in the process of purchasing a new Crimson Rescue Engine to replace an older unit nearing twenty years of age.
Back in December of 1980, when the doors to our department opened, we looked to our community for help and support. Here we are in 2006 and we are looking for your support again. Our means of raising money for our new firetruck will reward both our department and our donors. After months of searching we have decided to begin a new tradition known as the Rapidan VFD Brick Drive. By using this means of fundraising over the next few years, we hope to be able to offset the cost of our firetruck by about $100,000. Please understand that this can only be done with the support of our community.
You can have your name engraved into the brick, you can use your signature, companies can have their logo printed on their bricks, and this would be a wonderful way to remember a loved one. All purchased bricks will be incorporated into a memorial wall on the grounds of the Rapidan Volunteer Fire Department. Included in the price of the bricks is also a special recognition dinner that will be announced following the completion of our drive. All donors will be invited, regardless of amount donated. Please remember that your local volunteers risk their lives to save yours.
